When products come directly out of the oven, cooling can quickly become a bottleneck in the production process. Recently, D&F Equipment Sales partnered with a customer to design and install a custom cookie cooling conveyor that allows product to cool to the desired temperature while remaining in continuous production flow.
The application features a 48-inch-wide by 100-foot-long conveyor engineered specifically for the customer’s operation. The extended conveyor length provides the space needed for cookies to spread out and cool naturally before packaging and handling.
Because product quality is critical, the system was designed with tight transfers and a nose bar discharge to help maintain product orientation throughout the cooling process. The conveyor also utilizes a center-drive configuration to support smooth product movement from oven discharge through the cooling stage.
As with every project at D&F, the solution was built around the customer’s unique requirements and future goals. The customer has already expressed interest in expanding the system with additional lines, making scalability an important consideration during the design process.
Watch the video below as D&F Engineer Philip Stewart walks through the application and explains how this custom conveyor solution helps the customer maintain production flow while achieving the cooling time necessary for packaging.
